Hannah and Tyler, Santa Cruz Cliff Engagement Photos

Drove down to Hannah’s hometown of Santa Cruz to take some engagement photos. Nearly missed the huge storm that was coming through — made for some beautiful clouds and perfect views of the ocean.

2017 Year In Review

Every year, we look back at all the images we’ve captured over the past 12 months. Tens of thousands of photos are culled down to a select few and then mashed together in a big blog post. Each photo is a unique timestamp representing a specific feeling, memory, or moment for the individuals in the photo. However, I’ve also noticed that I’ve placed my own personal timestamp on each photoshoot too. This Year In Review isn’t just a fragmented collection of intimate photos of other people’s lives, it’s also a unique mosaic of images that serve as a sweet, sweet reminder of what this year has meant to me.

To Jess and Alex: Hanging with my wife and me in Yosemite. It felt like the first time we were able to just breathe since moving up to the Bay Area.

To Kerry, Michael, Sheila, and Daniel: Taking pictures around this new city I now call home has helped make a hard life transition into an exciting adventure.

To all my UCLA friends: Go Bruins! Thanks for getting married and hosting mini-college reunions so that I can see my friends again lolz.

To Meg and Nathan: Thanks for showing me the power of a quiet and gentle love that is oftentimes overlooked… I feel like I experience this in my marriage too.

To Kat, Jose, Dee, and Terence: You all invited me into your houses and treated me, a stranger, like family. I wish to mirror that type of generosity and hospitality in my own life with anyone I come across.

To all the other couples whom I have been able to share life with this past year: Thank you for continually shaping my theology of photography. I married my wife this year, and as a new husband, I am constantly reminded of what committing your life to another person looks like through you.

2017, you were weird. But you were GOOD.
